The SPIC Inner Mongolia Tongliao Biomethane Project is an important demonstration project for the integrated utilization of biomass resources in China. Using corn straw and livestock manure as the main feedstocks, the project adopts a co-digestion process and is equipped with biogas upgrading and organic fertilizer production systems.

With a designed biogas production capacity of approximately 60,000 m³/day, the project demonstrates strong engineering capability in high-solids straw treatment, stable anaerobic digestion, standardized delivery and integrated energy-nutrient recycling.

It is also called Tongliao Biomethane Project.

The Tongliao Biomethane Project is a large-scale agricultural waste-to-energy project designed to convert livestock manure and corn straw into valuable renewable resources. The project adopts an integrated process including feedstock pretreatment, anaerobic digestion, biogas purification, and solid–liquid separation, enabling the production of biomethane, organic fertilizer, and liquid nutrients.

The core technical route combines manure pretreatment, straw hydrolysis pretreatment, integrated CSTR anaerobic digestion, biological desulfurization, and biogas upgrading and compression. The project covers an area of approximately 161,172 m², forming a comprehensive biomass utilization system.

Upon completion, the facility processes 99,000 tons of manure annually and consumes over 100,000 tons of corn straw. It produces 60,000 m³ of biogas per day, upgraded to 33,000 m³ of biomethane daily, along with over 50,000 tons of solid organic fertilizer, 6,000 tons of liquid fertilizer, and 80,000 tons of digestate annually. The purified biomethane is supplied to CNG fueling stations and nearby industrial users, while fertilizers are used for local agricultural applications.

The project integrates advanced feedstock management systems, including manure reception and homogenization tanks, as well as large-scale straw storage and preprocessing facilities. Straw is pretreated through hydrolysis to improve biodegradability and enhance gas yield, while reducing retention time in digesters.

The anaerobic digestion system consists of eight large-scale reactors operating under mesophilic conditions (42±1°C) with a retention time of approximately 25 days, ensuring stable biogas production. The biogas is further treated through desulfurization, dehydration, and PSA upgrading to achieve methane purity of over 97%, meeting natural gas standards.

By-products from the digestion process are fully utilized. Solid residues are processed into organic fertilizers, while liquid fractions are used for fertigation or returned to farmland, forming a closed-loop resource utilization system.

By replacing fossil fuels with renewable biomethane, the project significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, achieving negative carbon emissions and an annual carbon reduction of approximately 56,000 tons.

This project demonstrates Yikang Eco's capability in delivering large-scale, integrated biomass energy solutions, supporting sustainable agriculture and low-carbon development.
